Created for experienced seamstresses and budding quilters alike, the Singer 7256 is an extremely user-friendly computerized sewing machine. Perfect for a wide range of projects, this model works well for almost any fashion sewing, decorative sewing or heirloom project.

Like many of the Singer sewing machine line, the 7256 is intended to meet the needs of a broad clientele. It is designed with automatic tension and an automatic needle threader. To make sewing even easier, it comes with a Ready, Set, Sew! DVD. Produced by Singer, this DVD discusses how the sewing machine works and helps each user to get started with it.

What I like about this machine is that it's a great value for the price. It can do all the basics which makes it great not just for beginners but for users with more experience wanting just a basic machine. Plus, it's computerized and easy to use. It's not fancy and doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles but for a basic computerized machine it's a good value.

  • High quality DVD and instruction manual
  • Poorly made foot control pedal

Featuring a number of stitches, this sewing machine makes selecting a desired stitch easy. You just have to press one button and you can select the type of stitch you want. The bobbin system in this model is designed to prevent the thread from jamming. Quiet and efficient, this bobbin system is top loading and is encased in clear plastic. You can easily look down while you are sewing to see if the bobbin is still functioning properly.

To make using this sewing machine easier on the eyes, this machine is equipped with a StayBright LED white lamp. This lamp is intended to last for 100,000 hours, so your sewing machine will break before the lamp ever stops working. If something does go wrong with the light or the sewing machine, Singer offers this product with a 25 year limited warranty for non-electronic parts.

With the audible tone system, you are also treated to an audio experience not just a visual one. This tone sounds after you select the pattern or stitches so that you know the sewing machine understood your command. In addition to this feature, this sewing machine is outfitted with on-board storage within the extension table and an automatic tie-off function. The maximum speed offered is 750 stitches per minute. Although this is among the slower machines on the market, it also happens to have a much cheaper price.

This machine gets high marks from current owners. Some customers have said that the foot control is not as sensitive as other machines on the market and can actually have a slight time lag. Luckily, the Singer 7256 makes up for this deficiency with quality of its user manual. Unlike many sewing machines, the instruction manual and DVD are extremely simple to understand. Novices and experienced sewers will be able to figure out the ins and outs of the machine in no time.

This is a really great deal for the price and is one of the better machines - computerized or otherwise - out there in this price range. If you are a beginner or want to save money yet still get a machine that can do all the basics, then this is a great machine to consider. It's not fancy but the Singer 7256 is a good value for the price.
